Vitrified vs. Ceramic: What is the difference?
Ceramic tiles are baked at lower temperatures and are more porous. They are excellent for walls but might not withstand heavy loads. Vitrified tiles, however, undergo a vitrification process, fusing clay and silica into a non-porous glass-like structure with high mechanical strength.
What to Look for:
- PEI Rating: Choose PEI 4 or 5 for heavy traffic commercial floors.
- Water Absorption: Vitrified tiles have absorption rates below 0.5%, making them highly stain-proof.
- Anti-slip finish: For outdoor commercial spaces, matte or structured finishes prevent accidental slips during rains.
